Social Media and how we use it is starting to change. Web3 might just be the thing that helps us own our online identities.

NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens), meaning assets unique and verifiable on the blockchain, has been a hot topic this year, but a common response I get when it comes up in conversation is that it makes no sense. I understand this perspective and it’s a common one to have if you haven’t done some research into the space. After doing some research this is my best explanation.

I’m talking about the ultra-informative and proactive newsletter started by Balaji S. Srinivasan called 1729.com. Balaji is “an angel investor and entrepreneur. Formerly the CTO of Coinbase and General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz, he was also the co-founder of Earn.com (acquired by Coinbase), Counsyl (acquired by Myriad), Teleport (acquired by Topia), and Coin Center.”

I plan to dive a little deeper into the projects that have caught my eye over the last few months. These Dapps and Blockchains show the scope of this technology and as always, this is for me to learn more about these projects and help me explain what exactly I’m putting my money into.

I’ll admit that I’m kind of late to the crypto party and people have been in it for years. It seems like Bitcoin has been around for ages now, but my knowledge went as far as news headlines whenever it reached a new all-time high (ATH).
